Fire is a natural part of the forest's vitality. It promotes species diversity, regeneration of seeds and plants, and prevents the spread of diseases. This phenomenon has shaped our landscapes since the appearance of terrestrial plants, over 400 million years ago. Our global climate is changing and with it, wildfires have increased in size and intensity. We are resilient, adaptable, and will continue to find more ways to manage forests + explore strategies to help mitigate these changes—this involves bringing together traditional knowledge and innovative actions. One of the aspects that I loved about making this drawing, as well as my art in general, is entering a flow state in which the rhythms of my movements and focus on shapes + values guides me into a meditative state.
